About Hodge Hill Neighbourhood Network Scheme (NNS)

POhWER are working on behalf of Birmingham City Council to support adult citizens in the community to live healthy, independent lives. The Neighbourhood Network Scheme helps connect people to individuals, groups, organisations, activities, services and places in their neighbourhoods.

A major role of the NNS is to identify gaps / support existing community assets and develop new ones. Community assets are considered as any group, organisation, place, activity or service which offers an activity that an older adult can participate in. Our combined focus is working with the community assets and then the social work teams to support the assets to connect – indirectly helping older by supporting the community assets that support them.

Help Harry Help Others - Whilst battling an inoperable brain tumour, Harry was inspired to make a difference to all people with brain cancer when a friend of his who also had a brain tumour became very ill. Within the space of just over two years Harry had organised and attended nearly 100 events to raise money for and awareness of brain cancer.

He touched the hearts of the nation with his efforts and helped change the lives of everyone he met.

We really hope that you can all take the time to read Harry’s full story in his own words and read all about the inspiration behind behind Help Harry Help Others.
