Canterbury Says 'No' To Horse Drawn Carriage Rides!

Come along and join East Kent Animal Action at this demonstration in Canterbury City Centre, as we send a clear message to the council: CANTERBURY SAYS 'NO' TO HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE RIDES.
Back in March, PETA launched a petition to oppose the plan by a local operator to start running a horse drawn carriage tour of the city. That petition gathered over 4000 signatures.
In April, we staged a protest outside the full council meeting, where we presented our petition. The situation was made clear to us: there was no means to ban this tourist attraction using existing licencing laws. The only possibility was to develop policy and create legislation. Therefore, we need to keep the pressure on the council to deal with this issue properly, and ensure that other operators are unable to create copycat businesses.
Gather on the pavement between the Guildhall and the Westgate Towers from 5.30pm. All are welcome.
