This is an 11.5 mile walk exploring Blean Woods, which covers an area of more than 2000 hectares, part of which is owned by the RSPB. A section of the woods is managed as a National Nature Reserve and part is managed by the Woodland Trust. This walk will delight nature lovers, with a wealth of birds, flowers and butterflies in the various sections of woodland.
Heading in a anti-clockwise direction, the route takes the group over to Tyler Hill, we then meander through woodland and enter Thornden Wood. Upon reaching Gypsy Corner, we cross over to Clowes Wood and after crossing the busy A290 at Red Lion House, we then proceed across open countryside, before turning back towards Blean, after passing Parsonage Farm.
There will be the usual short picnic lunch stop, at a suitable point in the woods, with drinks stop at The Hare in Blean, during the latter stage of the walk.
Dogs welcome, but on a short lead when required.
