Candle Pouring & Floral Arranging Workshop: Element Brooklyn × STEMMA
About this Event
Presented by Element Brooklyn and STEMMA Design Studio, this collaborative workshop brings together the art of fragrance and floral design. Guests will first discover their personal scent profile and create a custom scented candle, then translate that fragrance into a seasonal floral arrangement through thoughtful use of color, texture, movement, and form.
Guests will leave with a custom scented candle and a seasonal floral arrangement, each created during a guided, hands-on experience that explores the relationship between fragrance and botanical design. All flowers, vessels, candle-making materials, tools, and instruction are included.
Designed for beginners, flower lovers, and fragrance enthusiasts alike, no prior experience is required. Whether attending solo or with a friend, guests will leave with two handcrafted creations and a deeper appreciation for the connection between scent and botanicals.

STEMMA Design Studio is a floral design studio and school rooted in seasonality, hospitality, and the art of gathering. Located in the heart of Chelsea, just steps from New York City's historic Flower District, STEMMA was founded on a simple belief: flowers have the power to bring people together.
Through workshops, installations, private events, and brand collaborations, STEMMA approaches floral design as a form of environmental storytelling. Guided by color, texture, movement, and the rhythms of the seasons, each experience is thoughtfully crafted to create atmosphere, evoke emotion, and foster meaningful connection.
Element Brooklyn is a Brooklyn based fragrance house dedicated to creating thoughtfully designed home and personal care products that celebrate the art of scent. From hand-poured candles to home fragrance and body care, every collection is crafted in New York using premium ingredients and a design first approach, with a commitment to refillable products and more mindful everyday rituals.
At the heart of the brand is the belief that fragrance is more than something you wear or burn. It's a way to tell stories, evoke memories, and shape the spaces we inhabit. This philosophy inspired the creation of the Gallery of Scent, Element Brooklyn's immersive fragrance experience, where guests discover the building blocks of perfumery through guided sensory exploration and develop a deeper understanding of their own scent preferences.
Through thoughtfully curated workshops and immersive experiences, Element Brooklyn invites guests to slow down, engage their senses, and experience fragrance as a medium for creativity, connection, and self-expression.
Meet Your Instructor
Matthew David Norman is a floral designer, grower, and founder whose work explores the relationship between flowers, people, and place.
After co-founding and managing Valley Peony, a working cut-flower farm in Alexander, New York, Matthew developed a deep appreciation for seasonality, cultivation, and the rhythms of the natural world. He later founded STEMMA Design Studio, where he creates floral installations, immersive workshops, and botanical experiences for hospitality, cultural institutions, brands, and private events.
Blending the knowledge of a grower with the perspective of a designer, Matthew approaches floral design as a form of storytelling. Through thoughtful use of color, texture, movement, and seasonality, he creates experiences that foster connection, shape atmosphere, and invite people to see flowers in an entirely new way.
