This event is FREE!The Cambria Scarecrow Festival will be coming to you again for the 17th year from October 1 through October 31, 2025. Over 200 scarecrows showcasing the creativity of local talent line the streets the entire month of October.
NEW THIS YEAR! We'll have pop-ups at various places in Cambria where you can buy our merchandise! We'll have caps, short sleeved and long sleeved t-shirts and sweatshirts! We'll post when we'll have them so stay tuned.
Here’s a taste of what you will see:
• Our whimsical Fun n’ Games display in the empty lot between the Shell Station and Cutruzzola Winery features games and toys from your youth. You’ll find Monopoly, Candy Land, a teeter totter, Jack in the Box, hula hoops and more! Twister, anyone? Look up in the tree to find Zippy, our very own zip lining scarecrow. You can even get in on the fun and play too.
• Our local children decorated all of the imaginative dogs you will see flying along the fence on Main Street between East and West Village. You’ll be delighted at what these children create.
Moonstone Drive will be home to Cambria’s version of Chowchilla with entertainers, among them Taylor Swift, Ozzy Osbourne and KISS, in front of Pacifica hotels along the road.
• Don’t forget to head up to San Simeon and wander around! Not only will there be very inventive scarecrows in front of the businesses on each frontage road, make sure you stop in the lot near San Simeon Beach Bar and Grill. Once there, step into our enchanting Fantastical Cove, a whimsical wonderland brimming with magical mushrooms, mischievous gnomes, and imaginary creatures. Surrounded by the Happy Ness monster, and peopled with fairies, a troll, a unicorn and other fun beings, you’ll discover a perfect picture taking opportunity.
• Along Cambria Drive, you’ll find one of BBC’s popular investigators along with her Range Rover, and many of our Make-it-in-a-Day workshop creations. Every year, participants of this free workshop are amazed at what they come up with and how fun it is to make scarecrows. A lot of these people get hooked and join our volunteer crew.
And these are just the displays!
As you travel around the towns of Cambria and San Simeon, you will see many more new scarecrows lining the streets. Some of those debuting this year will be Crow Crow Chanel, Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors, elephant seal man, the Purple People Eater, and Mike, the one-eyed, green monster from Monsters Inc.
Keep your eyes open to glimpse some of your favorites from past years too. You will be amazed at all of the creativity and thought that went into the scarecrows and won’t want to miss seeing any of them.
So come to Cambria and San Simeon, check out all of the creations, and enjoy this special area during the best month to visit. This festival will definitely be full of photo opportunities as well!
