CALM Conversations (Suicide Awareness Summit 2026)

This no-cost training is being offered on a "first-come, first-served" basis in conjunction with the 2026 Suicide Awareness Summit being held at the Holley Academic Center on the FSU Panama City campus. Space is limited to 30 persons for this training.
CALM stands for Counseling on Access to Lethal Means. This training is designed to provide friends, family, and others with information on how to recognize and respond to suicide risk. It also focuses on reducing access to lethal means, especially firearms. Participants learn how to talk with someone who may be having thoughts of suicide in a collaborative, nonjudgmental, and supportive manner. Continuing Education (CE) credit is not available for this 90-minute training.
Training will be presented by Lauren Anzaldo, EdD, LCSW, CAP, who is a part of the Suicide Prevention Team for the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (VA).
Lunch will be provided at no charge between 1230-115pm for attendees who have preregistered for this training. When registering for this CALM Conversations training, attendees must select a lunch option: regular lunch, vegetarian, or gluten-friendly.
Registration for the 2026 Suicide Awareness Summit at FSU Panama City is separate from registration for this afternoon training event. Anyone intending to participate in both must register for both the summit and the CALM Conversations training. Register for the 2026 Suicide Awareness Summit
