The Eco Group at Ipswich Road URC have been finalising plans for the next Café Eco on Saturday July 4th 10am - 4pm on the theme of gardening as the climate changes.
There will be talks at 12.30pm & 2.30pm from Climate Change Gardening and the opportunity to get advice from them during the day.
The event has been planned in collaboration with Eaton Rise Residents Association and runs alongside their Open Gardens, which this year is raising funds for the Norfolk Branch of NSPCC. Programmes for the Open Gardens will be available at the church for their information stand all the day and proceeds from the plant stall, run by ERRA Garden Group, will go to the charity.
We hope that visitors collecting their programmes will also browse our eco marketplace and sample refreshments throughout the day. These will include bacon rolls, soup, home baking and home made ice lollies from ERRA & church.
We have invited local craftspeople to have stalls in our marketplace: Wendy Balicki brought her wares made from recycled textiles, including cushions, bags and bunting, to our January Café Eco and has asked to come again. Her husband Terry will also be present with his attractive succulent plants. Local bread proved very popular so more will be available this time.
The new stalls include gifts and clothing from ReDo Norfolk, a local charity that works with Scrapbox and local crafters to reduce waste going to landfill.; home made cards from Princesspud cards; homemade bags, cushions and bunting from Pauline Willimott.
There will also be an information stand for Climate Change Gardening and the Mind Lakenham & Tuckswood Climate connect project. Information and advice will be available from a new energy advice service for over 65s, Our Power.
