About this Event
Bystander Intervention: Talking Consent & Safer Campuses (SAAM 2026)
Join us for an interactive SAAM 2026 workshop focused on bystander intervention, consent, and building safer college campuses. In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), this session highlights how students can take an active role in preventing sexual violence and supporting a culture of respect and accountability.
Sexual violence remains a critical issue on college campuses and is often underreported. This training is designed to equip students with practical, real-life skills to recognize warning signs, safely intervene in concerning situations, and support peers when it matters most.
Participants will learn about:
- Bystander intervention strategies and how to step in safely
- Consent, boundaries, and healthy relationships
- How to support survivors
- How to report incidents within their school
This event is hosted by Our VOICE, a nonprofit organization committed to ending sexual violence and human trafficking through education, counseling, and advocacy.
Location: Classroom Elm 211B, At AB Tech, 340 Victoria Rd Asheville, NC 28801, USA
Day/Time: April 27th at 11:30 am–1:00 pm
What you’ll receive for attending:
- Pizza /0/
- A chance to win one of our popular “Cat Against Catcalls” T-shirts, and

We encourage all students to attend, learn, and take an active role in creating safer campuses. Spots are limited, so be sure to register in advance to secure your place.
We look forward to seeing you there!
For 25 years, the Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) movement has worked to break silence, support survivors, and challenge stigma. As part of both SAAM and Denim Day, we come together to recognize the power of awareness, education, and collective action in preventing sexual violence. What began as a call for recognition has grown into a nationwide effort centered on prevention, advocacy, and community engagement.
We honor the strength and resilience of survivors while continuing to amplify their voices. Through activities like Denim Day, we stand in solidarity, spark conversation, and challenge harmful myths—reflecting on how far we’ve come while recommitting to building safer, more supportive communities for all.
