BYO Month Reusable Bag Sewing Circle

Join the LB Reuses Coalition's Sewing Circle!

LB Reuses is hosting its first sewing circle this BYO MOnth as part of our effort to prepare for California’s 2026 plastic bag ban. Together, we’ll be making reusable bags for our community while enjoying good company and light refreshments.

Date & Time: Sunday, October 19 from 1-3pmLocation: Sports Basement Long Beach (2100 N Bellflower Blvd)*3rd Floor Flight Deck

We have more than enough space, so feel free to bring a friend or two! We’ll have plenty of mobile tables and plug-ins for sewing machines.

What to Bring (if you can):

• Sewing machine(s)
• Fabric (100% cotton, clean, similar weight to classic cotton sheets – ideally no jersey or flannel)
• Thread (any color)
• Scissors
• Ironing boards and irons

If you do not have any of these supplies, no worries! We will have extra supplies so everyone can participate. All skill levels are welcome, and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you have. Let’s sew, chat, and make something useful for our community.

BYO Month in Long Beach 2025 is a month-long celebration of Long Beach businesses dedicated to reducing single-use plastics. Use your reusable containers (cups, bags, containers) at participating locations and join in on BYO Month events to collect stamps and submit your stamp card to be entered to win fun prizes. More details will be announced at the screening and find more info on the City's webpage. We cannot wait to kick single-use plastics to the curb and reduce waste in Long Beach with you!
