This year will be the 2nd annual Christmas Day breakfast for our homeless community at Buzzy's Breakfast Downtown in Ocean Springs.
** This is NOT an invitation for the general public to attend this event, but to promote it as a way to ask for your support in making the event even more successful and impactful this year.
Rebecca and her husband, along with some of her staff and volunteers did an incredible job last year serving 40+ people. She stepped up and offered to host this event, which was her idea in the first place! All we did was to promote and help facilitate and coordinate the event. She also would not take any monetary compensation for anything…Buzzy’s absorbed the entire cost of all of the food that was served.
Last year we had several hundred people message us and Buzzy’s to volunteer to help or serve in some way. Like last year, all of the help and volunteers are already in place this year. Rebecca also had the idea last year that in lieu of volunteering, people could purchase fast food gift cards to hand out after breakfast. She wanted to know that her guests could have another meal or two on another day. We want to continue that again this year. Last year over $1200 in gift cards were passed out. Everyone (40ish people) left with $30 in gift cards to utilize on some other hungry day.
⚠️ If you feel led, please do purchase a few fast food gift cards ($5-10) and drop them off at Buzzy’s before Christmas Day. Please keep in mind that they are only open from 7 am until noon each day. It is a small act of kindness that has a big impact. It’s not just the fact that there will be another hot meal in their future…it’s that the guests all knew that so many in the community came together to care for them in this way.
