Creative Slingers of Ink (CI)

Creative Slingers of Ink (CI) began as a simple inquiry from author Mandy Jo Squires, who sought to host a pop-up book signing at Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea in Novi, MI. After an invitation from cafe owner Karen, Mandy Jo saw the potential for a larger gathering and decided to include more authors. As interest grew, Karen facilitated connections with other writers, leading to the establishment of CI, a community committed to supporting indie and small press authors. In May of 2024, CI relocated its headquarters from Michigan to South Carolina, marking a new chapter in its mission.

The mission of CI is to gather writers of all levels and backgrounds to help them achieve their literary goals through encouragement, networking, and collaboration. The group supports indie authors—those who self-publish or work with small presses—and embraces a diverse range of writing styles, including fiction, poetry, academic writing, and senplays. Members can participate in various activities such as in-person book signings, as well as virtual and in-person writing sessions and workshops. CI also highlights featured authors on its website and social media, creating a dynamic environment that fosters creativity and connection. Whether through engaging disussions or exciting events, CI aims to enrich the literary experience for both writers and readers alike.
