If you grew up drinking fever grass, cerasee, or ginger tea when you were sick, this workshop is for you.
About this Event

Step into the wisdom of Caribbean kitchens and gardens, where elders used plants like fever grass (lemongrass), cerasee, ginger, and sorrel to care for their families.

Join storyteller and cultural educator Kesha Christie, founder of Talkin’ Tales, for an engaging and interactive cultural experience exploring Caribbean bush remedies through storytelling, herbal tea tasting, and shared memories.

Across the Caribbean, knowledge of plants and natural remedies has been passed down through generations. These traditions are more than recipes — they are stories of resilience, community, and care.

In this special gathering, participants will explore the herbs that many of us grew up with and reconnect with the cultural wisdom behind them.

What You’ll Experience

• Learn about traditional Caribbean bush remedies
• Smell and explore a variety of herbs
• Enjoy herbal tea tasting
• Hear storytelling rooted in Caribbean traditions
• Contribute to our Grandmother’s Remedies Wall and share memories of remedies passed down through your family

Little Herbalists Activity (Kids Welcome)

Children are welcome to attend!

Young participants can join our Little Herbalists activity, where they will plant their own herb starter and learn about the plants used in Caribbean traditions.

This event is designed to be family-friendly and interactive.

Take-Home Herbal Kit

Each participant will receive a Bush Remedies Herbal Kit which includes:

• select dried herbs
• a wooden herbal tea spoon
• a keepsake card with tea instructions and traditional uses

A small reminder of the wisdom shared during the workshop.
