Burlesque All-stars open stage are inclusive burlesque events for showcasing new material. BAS open stage event series is also a one of a kind launch pad for new burlesque, cabaret and drag artists in Copenhagen: since June 2024 nine new performers made their first burlesque solo debut at this stage and over fifty new acts solo and group acts were developed and premiered at BAS open stage event series.
BAS boosts international creative collaboration - there have been multiple new solo and group numbers involving artists from the USA, Finland, Denmark, Romania, Belgium and other countries.
New material, originally developed for and premiered at Burlesque All-stars finds it's way to bigger stages and evolves into large scale productions: the new queer burlesque musical Lover Boy (production by Copenhagen Theatre Circle, premiere on March 10th 2026, written & directed by Stinne Brøchner-Nielsen) originates from burlesque number developed for Burlesque All-stars by Brøchner-Nielsen/Bellamy The Gentlebutch in 2024. In 2025 in has evolved into a 30 minutes short play Lover Boy co-directed by Stinne Brøchner-Nielsen & Maria Hartikainen (stage name Margot LaReine, founder and producer of Burlesque All-stars event series).
Multiple new burlesque acts developed and premiered at Burlesque All-stars have been booked to perform at high level international events, such as Baltic Burlesque Gala (Gdansk, Poland) and RendezVous Club (Stockholm, Sweden).
Modern burlesque as a genre is empowering. Especially to female, non-binary and trans performers it gives back the power and ownership of their bodies and images, instead fitting one narrative or being objectified by someone else's gaze. Performers choose their story to tell, how to present themselves, why and on what terms. It celebrates diversity, different body types, different ages, backgrounds and challenges stereotypical gender norms.
Burlesque All-stars open stage creates a safe space for artistic experimentation, and at the same time it continuously exposes new audiences to burlesque and drag as art forms. Events are free of charge for the audience, which makes them accessible for everybody. Burlesque All-stars usually runs each 2-3 months. A new season kicks off in August with a special BAS Copenhagen Pride Edition, which has been included in the Copenhagen Pride programme.
