Buoyancy Skills Workshop – Sunday 10th May, 8amGood buoyancy is one of the biggest skills that separates an average diver from a great one.
But like any skill, it doesn’t magically appear after your certification course. Buoyancy control develops over time with practice and repetition. Just like any hobby or sport, the more time you spend working on the fundamentals, the more natural and effortless it becomes.
A lot of divers finish their course and assume the training part is over — but in reality, that’s just the beginning. Continuing to practice core diving skills is what builds confidence, improves comfort in the water, and ultimately makes you a safer and more capable diver.
We’re running a buoyancy skills workshop focused on refining the core techniques that make a huge difference to your diving.
During the session we’ll work through practical skills including:
• Fine-tuning your weighting
• Breathing control for buoyancy adjustment
• Hovering and maintaining neutral buoyancy
• Trim and body position in the water
• Efficient finning techniques
• Minimising contact with the seabed and marine life
Good buoyancy improves your air consumption, reduces effort, and helps protect the underwater environment. It also makes diving far more enjoyable when you’re not constantly adjusting your BCD or kicking up the bottom.
This workshop is simply about getting back to the fundamentals and giving divers time in the water to practice them properly.
It’s also a free community workshop — the goal is to bring local divers together and encourage good diving habits.
All certified divers are welcome.

Bring your usual dive gear and be ready to spend some time refining the skills that make diving feel effortless.
This workshop is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if conditions are unsuitable.
