In a “deep blue” state like Maryland, voting alone is not a winning strategy. We need the power to hold elected leaders accountable and pass serious policy reforms.That’s called Governing Power!

If you’re ready to make real change now, join us for Building Governing Power, a hands-on program designed for activists and community members who are tired of watching big donors and corporate interests calling the shots, while working families wait for relief.

Led by seasoned organizers and campaign professionals, you'll learn how to engage your neighbors; effectively mobilize authentic community support; and turn electoral wins into governing power through sustainable, people-driven strategies.

Sessions will include:

• Understanding your civic power and how to use it
• Learn tools for effective grassroots organizing and strategies to build collective power
• Crafting a powerful community vision through listening and turning that vision into a powerful community driven policy agenda
• Incorporating accountability and collaboration into relationships with elected leaders

Learn from trainers who’ve done it

You’ll be trained by real campaign leaders and seasoned organizers with real wins—and real scars—from the field:

• Maurico Ayon – Campaign and media consultant who has managed successful local and statewide campaigns in Washington State, with deep expertise in small-donor campaigns and grassroots organizing.
• Brandy Brooks – Community organizer, organizing trainer, and former Montgomery County Council candidate whose race is now used as a model for harnessing people power to win.
• Charly Carter – Expert in grassroots organizing and campaigns, specializing in building people-powered governing strength after the election.
• Andy Ellis – Former Chair of the Maryland Green Party, experienced in running grassroots third-party campaigns and known for sharp, guerrilla communication strategies for challengers.
