About this Event

Now in its 4th year, Between the Blue & Green is a film festival showcasing short films and documentaries exploring sustainability and wellbeing, featuring work from local, national and international filmmakers. Our aim is to spark conversation, inspire action and create positive change through creative, impactful and often surprising films.

One audience member said: “It felt warm and welcoming but also opened up ideas I hadn’t thought about - the kind of films you end up talking about for days.”

Documentary Film Screening

Thursday 24 September

2026 Feature Documentary Award winner – Nothing to See Here: Watts
🇬🇧 UK Premiere Screening
Director: Michael Soenen, California, USA

2026 20 Minute Award winner – Finding My Way Back | Wildest Ones – Episode 04
Director: Simon Owen, Manchester, UK

Expect two powerful documentaries exploring community, resilience, mental wellbeing and our relationship with the world around us.

Nothing to See Here: Watts – UK Premiere

Sixty years after the 1965 Watts uprising, twenty residents are given iPhones and the freedom to tell their own stories – including rival gang members, police officers, students, parents and victims of violence.

What begins as a film about understanding a community becomes a powerful exploration of identity, conflict, perception and what happens when people are given the opportunity to see each other differently.

We’re incredibly excited to present the UK premiere of this powerful and thought-provoking documentary.

Finding My Way Back

Director: Simon Owen, Manchester, UK

After experiencing severe anxiety, depression and major life change, Annabelle finds strength and a renewed sense of self through wild swimming, climbing and time spent in nature.

Set against the dramatic landscapes of the Lake District, this honest and hopeful documentary explores mental wellbeing, resilience and the restorative power of wild places.
