Brutalist Adelaide Walking Tour | 23 Aug 11am
About this Event
Celebrate the era of bell-bottoms, Bowie and board-marked concrete, when Adelaide's modernist architects seized on brutalism's sculptural and structural possibilities.
Brutalism is winning back admirers around the world – and Adelaide has one of its best-kept archives, with an unusually intact collection of brutalist buildings, preserved by our low pollution and Mediterranean climate.
This one-hour walk through downtown Adelaide, led by award-winning mid-century architecture enthusiast Stuart Symons, explores some of the city's finest brutalist buildings, from the Forensic Science Centre and the former Motor Registration Centre to government headquarters and banking chambers.
