Brouhaha presents a cosy and intimate evening of live music in the lovely setting of the Quay Co-op bookshop.Brouhaha returns to the Quay Coop bookshop this October with two of Cork's best nature-loving folk revellers. Prepare to be transported to landscapes unknown and to leave with a taste for adventure.
Wild Notions is the free-spirited alt/indie folk project of multi-instrumentalist Luc O'Rourke. Performing solo or with accompaniment, he explores the wilderness of being; vocalising everyday thoughts and abstract inklings with a refreshing rawness. Navigating a variety of emotional landscapes Luc creatively disregards the borders of genre, with the likes of acoustic guitar, banjo, bodhrán, wood whistle and voice. These 'Wild Notions' come through in the form of songs, poems and instrumental soundscapes. Each are steeped in his studies of philosophy & society, his years spent hitch-hiking, exploring the world and a clear love for nature and mysticism.
Samyel (Samuel Arnold Keane) is a forager, illustrator, musician... merging various art forms to tell the stories of the seaweeds, coasts and streets he gathers, wades and walks. At the essence of his creative practice is a passion for the natural world and to share this with others through song, performance, image and word.
As a musician, Samyel has performed in a variety of venues from a squat festival in Paris to Vicar Street. He has lately performed collaborative work in the Galway Theatre Festival, merging music with theatre. His music releases are often matched with artwork such as the “Allumette” series of screen-printed matchboxes with download code to the song inside. As a forager, Samuel has worked with children and adults from inner city Dublin, to the lowest tides of the West Coast.
Brouhaha is a not-for-profit music promoter bringing people to community spaces in Cork City.
Key Books (or The Other Place ) is a community bookshop run by volunteers as a not-for-profit venture.
This is an early evening event with doors at 6.30 p.m. See you there!
