Join us for an historic stroll through Brookside Cemetery, now designated as a Municipal Historical Resource and a National Historic Site. Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg is among the oldest and largest examples of the garden cemetery tradition in Western Canada. Established in 1878, it is located on Treaty 1 territory and the homeland of the Métis Nation. It is also the home of a large number of Commonwealth Graves and a Commemorative Stone designed by famous British architect Basil Spence. Tour leader Paul Moist will speak about the gravesites of several participants of the 1919 strike in Winnipeg. The tour will be on flat land, accessible to wheelchairs, strollers and bicycles. The tour is free but you are asked to register.
