Broken World 04: poetry in the park

Broken World is a space for Toronto poets to connect, collaborate, and share their work with one another.

August's session of Broken World poetry is a bit different than our typical event. Instead of an open mic, we're holding a free poetry picnic during Fred Victor's Taste of Regent Park summer market! We'll have writing prompts available, so you can read poetry and get inspired to write your own. Join your fellow poets in the grass to enjoy poetry, community, and delicious food from the market. This is a chill collaborative space in support of a great community initiative.

Taste of Regent Park is a weekly summer market by Fred Victor, a local non-profit that supports people experiencing poverty and homelessness in Toronto with affordable housing, transitional housing, housing with health care, shelters and respites, food security, job training and counselling, health care & mental health support, housing loss prevention, and a constellation of other supports.

Taste of Regent Park features local artisans, craftspeople, community organizations, food vendors, and entertainers from Regent Park. There are subsidized food options available at Taste of Regent Park through the pay what you can 'Market Bucks' system, which supports food security in the neighbourhood.

Please bring cash if you'd like to shop the market and support the community vendors.
