Learn the basics of British Sign Language and gain Deaf awareness in this fun and friendly 6-week course
About this Event

This free course for adults is ideal for anyone curious about British Sign Language (BSL). BSL is a visual-gestural language: it relies on handshapes, facial expressions, and body language to convey meaning and plays a vital role in communication.

This course is ideal for people who would like an introduction to BSL, who would like to learn more about the Deaf community, and/or communicate effectively with a family member, friend or colleague with hearing loss and to have fun while doing so.

For adults aged 19+ years

Venue

This free daytime course takes place at Exeter Community Centre.

Staff will be on hand to show you to the learning space.

Accessibility: These sessions are held in an accessible room.

Times and Attendance

Class takes place Monday evenings, 6pm-8pm.

(6-week course)

There will be a short break. Please feel free to bring your own refreshments, or hot drinks are available to buy from the onsite cafe.

Commitment: we ask learners endeavour to commit to the full 6-week course to enable everyone to get the most from the sessions. If for any reason you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your ticket.

Tickets: When booking tickets, please book one ticket per person and provide a name for each ticket. We are unable to accept bookings without a name.
