About this Event

With its long pebble beach, traditional seaside pier and vibrant atmosphere only one hour away from London, Brighton attracts over 9m visitors annually. The city is also rich in history, including the magnificent Royal Pavilion - an 18th century fantasy palace built for a playboy Prince - plus elegant Regency squares and seaside promenades. Visitors to Brighton are also attracted by the many quirky shops to be found in a maze of 18th century alleys, and by the wide choice of entertainment options - including several hundred cafes and restaurants.

Join our Brighton walking tour to hear fascinating stories about 300 years of local people and events. Did you know that Brighton has the highest percentage of LGBTQ residents in the country, was attacked from the air on 56 occasions during WWII, and hosted both the Beatles and the Rolling Stones in 1964?

Starting at the railway station a mile inland from the pier, we will finish at the beach from where you can see the chalk cliffs of the South Downs from the edge of the English Channel - whilst eating an ice cream!

Our stops will include:

  • North Laine and The Lanes (18th century)
  • Royal Pavilion and Brighton Dome (18th century)
  • Brighton Town Hall (19th century)
  • Middle Street (19th century)
  • Brighton Palace Pier (19-20th century)
  • Brighton seafront
