Bridging The Gap

Join us at this special event designed to bridge the gap between the local business community and the future workforce and help us celebrate turning 80. Come and be part of it.

What is the event format? Enjoy breakfast and informal networking on arrival, followed by guest speakers, a panel discussion, problem solving activities and speed networking. Breakfast includes a breakfast bap (veggie options available) tea and coffee provided by Enfields, Gateshead College's student-run restaurant.

Why should I attend?

• Understand & learn: Hear from employers who are fostering connections with our students and seeing a positive impact on their business.
• Discover talent: Meet the next generation of skilled professionals – they could be your next intern, apprentice or extra pair of hands.

Who will I meet? You’ll meet business professionals from across the region from sectors including digital, creative, sport, construction, automotive, engineering, professional services and TV and film. You’ll also meet Gateshead College students, the next generation of talent in these sectors.

What should I wear? We don’t have a dress code, wear what is most appropriate and comfortable for you.

How do I get to Academy for Sport? Public transport is the best option. The nearest Metro station, Gateshead Stadium, is about a 10-minute walk from the Academy for Sport. Buses from across the region stop at Gateshead Interchange, and it’s then just a short bus ride on the 93/94 Loop bus to our Academy for Sport.

Is there parking available onsite? Free parking is available behind our Academy for Sport Campus. To access parking, once on the Gateshead International Stadium site, follow the road to the Campus and go behind the campus through the green gates (to the left of the building entrance).

The Bridging the Gap event takes place in an important year for Gateshead College as we mark our 80th birthday.

Even though we've been here for 80 years, we're celebrating more than just this number. There’s the number of lives we have shaped and the number of opportunities we have created. There’s the number of businesses that we have supported, the number of relationships we have developed and the number of careers we have grown. It’s not just the big numbers either. Changing one life, helping one business to succeed and making one extra person feel part of our community are all equally important to us.
