Subscribe to this event and never miss a BOE meeting in 2025! The purpose of the Board of Education is to set education policy, hire the superintendent, and annually approve the school budget for our public schools.
The Board of Education of the City of Bridgeport consists of nine members who must be electors of the city of Bridgeport. Three seats on the Bridgeport BOE must be held by minority party positions.
Board of Education members serve 4 year terms, staggered every 2 years. In 2023, 4 members were elected. In 2025, 5 members' seats will be up for re-election.
The 2023 - 2025 Board of Education members are:
📚 Christine Baptiste-Perez, Chair (Democrat, elected, seat is up in 2025)
📚 Akisha L. Cassermere, Vice-Chair (Republican, appointed, seat is up in 2025)
📚 Jennifer Perez, Secretary (Democrat, appointed, seat is up in 2025)
📚 Tiheba Bain, (Democrat, elected Nov. 2023)
📚 Albert Benejan Granjales, (Independent Party, elected Nov. 2023)
📚 Willie Medina, (Independent Party, elected Nov. 2023)
📚 Joseph Sokolovic, (Democrat, elected, seat is up in 2025)
📚 Robert J. Traber, (Democrat, appointed, seat is up in 2025 )
📚 Andre Woodson, (Democrat, elected Nov. 2023)
