About this Event

Breathe by Design - A Breathwork Workshop

You breathe about 20,000 times a day. Almost none of it is on purpose.

Every one of those breaths is telling your nervous system something: that you're safe, or that you're not. Most of us have never been taught to read that signal, let alone use it.

The Breath Code is two hours on how your breath is shaping your stress, your sleep, your focus and your recovery, and what to do with that once you know.

How it works

The first hour is the learning. We'll look at how breathing patterns influence the nervous system, why carbon dioxide tolerance matters more than most people realise, and how to recognise your own habits. It's hands-on rather than a lecture. You'll try different breathing techniques as we go and feel the difference each one makes, so nothing stays theoretical.

The second half is a full guided breathwork session with music. Because of the groundwork, you'll come out of it understanding what actually happened in your body, not just that something did. That's the part most breathwork experiences leave out, and it's the whole reason this workshop exists.

You'll leave with

  • A clear sense of how your breathing is affecting you day to day
  • Practical techniques for stress, focus, sleep and recovery, and knowing which to use when
  • The ability to shift your own state deliberately, up or down
  • An understanding of what happens in your body during breathwork

Who it's for

Anyone curious about their breath. No experience needed, no prior knowledge assumed. It suits people managing stress or poor sleep, people who want more capacity under pressure, and people who've done breathwork before and want to properly understand it.

Limited to 30 people so there's room to ask questions and get individual attention.
The space

We're at Function Well West End, their flagship hub in the West Village precinct. A stunning studio and space to share a Saturday afternoon in. It's worth arriving early for an afternoon here if you can!

What to wear and bring

Warm, comfortable clothes and a water bottle. That's it. Mats and blankets are provided. If you like something thin under your head, bring a small cushion.

Best on a light stomach, so go easy on food in the hour or two before.

Your facilitator

Kate Robinson is the founder of PRANABEAT, where she trains and certifies breathwork facilitators internationally. She is a Global Trainer for Nike Training and teaches weekly breathwork at Function Well. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, is certified in Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy, and has over 1,000 hours of yoga and pranayama training.

Before you book

Breathwork isn't suitable for everyone. If you're pregnant, have a cardiovascular condition or uncontrolled high blood pressure, epilepsy, glaucoma, or have had recent surgery, please get in touch before booking. All participants complete a short health form before the day.
