About this Event

Breaking the Cycle of Violence in Gaza

Quakers and Activists Resist Genocide

Statement of Intent:

We abhor what we see: the genocide and forced starvation of a captive civilian population in Gaza. We are dealing with an authoritarian regime at home that supports an ultra-authoritarian, ultra-violent regime in the Middle East.

As Friends, as Quakers, we point to nonviolence and dialogue as the path out of the crisis. Part of nonviolence is seeing that a radical reshaping of the power dynamics in the Middle East is necessary to break the cycle of violence and hate.

So how do we get there? Join a discussion with a panel of activists who are engaging with this important issue.
David Rovics is a songwriter, musician, writer and podcaster based in Portland, Oregon.  He has recorded dozens of albums and has millions of his songs streamed every year.  His writing and podcasting can be found on Substack and other platforms.

Husseini has written articles for a variety of publications, including , , , and Salon. He recently confronted Anthony Blinken regarding US policy in Gaza.

Aharon Dardik is an Israeli-American ex-settler, conscientious objector to the Israeli military and nonviolent activist at Columbia University.

Linda Sarsour is a Palestinian Muslim American political activist and author, known for her work in intersectional movement building, community organizing, and advocacy for civil rights.
