Empowering People With Disabilities to Achieve Independence
The mission of the Access Center for Independent Living (ACIL) is to ensure that people with disabilities have full and complete access to the community in which they reside.
ACIL proudly serves Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby counties.
From the Director of ACIL, Jeremy Caffee:
“The Access Center for Independent Living empowers individuals with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in community life. We provide services for individuals with disabilities, including veterans, children, and the elderly. All services are free of charge. Our core services include information and referral, advocacy, peer support, independent living skills training, and transition services that help people move from institutions into the community and support youth as they transition into adulthood. Each service is designed to remove barriers, increase access to resources, and promote dignity, choice, and self-sufficiency.
Our specialized programs further expand that support. REDI (Recycled Equipment Donated for Independence) provides durable medical equipment and incontinent supplies to individuals with disabilities, helping meet essential daily living needs and improve health, mobility, and independence. Living Well in the Community builds on independent living skills training to improve quality of life by helping individuals strengthen the practical skills and confidence needed to live successfully in the community. Youth Leadership Forum empowers youth with disabilities by developing leadership, self-advocacy, and goal-setting skills that prepare them for future success at school, at work, and in community life.”
