A Solo Exhibition by TuxedoKat
Hosted in My Concord Home Studio
There are seasons that bloom.
And there are seasons that break you open.
BREAK: An Expression is a self-produced solo exhibition of the work created during one of the most pivotal chapters of my life. These pieces were made inside rupture, inside growth, inside the quiet dismantling of old identities and the steady building of something truer.
Rather than navigating gallery gatekeeping, I’m opening my own doors.
This exhibition takes place in my home studio in Concord — the very space where the work was conceived, built, questioned, and completed. The entire house will be transformed into a viewing experience featuring 2D narrative portraits, large-scale glass mosaics, sculptural works made from upcycled materials, and pieces that document both breakdown and breakthrough.
This is not a white-wall gallery and everything is for sale to add to your collection.
It is lived-in. Personal. Direct.
You’ll see the studio. The tools. The timeline. The discipline. The evolution.
You’ll witness the best of my recent work and the story woven through it — a story about mental rupture, creative survival, reclamation, and learning how to build again.
I’ll also be releasing materials, tables, and studio equipment as part of my own reduction process. Things that once held potential are ready for new hands.
Showings:
Friday, April 10 | 6–8 PM
Saturday | 4–8 PM
Sunday | 2–4 PM
Parking is available at Epworth Church across the street:
1030 Burrage Rd NE, Concord, NC 28025
From there, guests will walk to our home (please note: our driveway is steep and limited). We live in the basement of a multi-family home, and the entrance is around the back.
Come walk through the work.
Come ask questions.
Come witness what breaking open looks like in real time.
This is art as process.
Art as integration.
Art as proof that something can fracture — and still become beautiful.
