We are excited to welcome Léo Gomes of The BASE Zouk to Soft Medicine for both introductory and intermediate level Zouk four week series' beginning on January 6, and continuing January 13, 20, and 27. Additional dates are added for the February and March series, and each 4 week series will begin on the first Monday of each month!
We invite dancers to come learn this sensual and connective partner dance form, and look forward to growing our Zouk scene here in Sonoma County!
Beginner Zouk classes are from 6:15 to 7:15pm and the 4 week course costs $80. Drop-in is $30

Intermediate dancers who would also like to attend the beginner series will pay an additional $40 to be part of that class.
The B.A.S.E. stands for Brazilian Arts and Social Entertainment. Founded by Léo Gomes and Anna Onstad-Hargrave, the B.A.S.E. aims not only to develop high-level dancers, but also to provide an education into the culture and history of Brazilian art and culture.
At the B.A.S.E., we provide classes and trainings from everyone, to brand-new beginners to dancers with years of experience. We believe in empowering every individual to reach the heights of their potential in dance. Our ultimate goal is to expand the presence of Brazilian Zouk and Brazilian dances in the United States.
LÉO GOMES
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Léo started his dance journey at 8 years old with ballet and jazz. He has been studying and performing partner dances for 20 years. Léo started to teach Brazilian Dances and Samba de Gafieira in 2009, under the Jimmy de Oliveira Dance Academy. He trained in movement analysis and movement science from 2008 to 2010. In 2013, he began to train and teach at Renata Peçanha’s Dance company. Léo is a 2 time Zouk Lambada World Champion (2016 and 2017) and Brasil Latin Open Champion (2017). He also holds the prestigious honor of participating as instructor and choreographer of the show Dancing with the Stars Brazil in 2021.
