Bourbon Pursuit (Pursuit United) Tasting with Ryan Cecil - In Person

We are excited to welcome one of the co-founders of Bourbon Pursuit and Pursuit Spirits - Ryan Cecil to LA! He's coming out here on his tour of introducing the country to their line of bourbon and rye.

This event will be hosted at a private residence in Beverly Hills, CA.

We'll have some food for you so you're not drinking on a empty stomach. Think sandwiches/tacos/pizza, something simple.

About the lineup:

PURSUIT UNITED - TRIPLE MASH BOURBON

This four grain expression uses a skillful blend of rye and wheated bourbons to create an uncommon whiskey. Uniting the best characteristics from multiple bourbons, regardless of mashbill, distillery, and location to develop a one-of-a-kind flavor profile.

88 Proof (44% Alc./Vol)

NOSE - Sweet fried dough and kettle corn aromas are layered with warm mulling spices.

TASTE - The palate offers almond croissant, baked apricot, and bright stone fruit notes.

FINISH - A warm finish presents cinnamon sugar, cola fizz, and a subtle black pepper spice.

PURSUIT UNITED - TRIPLE MASH RYE

This expression unites three rye whiskeys from two states known for their rye producing heritage. Unlike most ryes that pack a walloping spice, ours is more sweet thanks to a corn-heavy mashbill. Creating an unparalleled experience with rich and mellow flavors.

NOSE - Bright vanilla lemon cake and citrus herbal tea aromas are accented by exotic cardamom.

TASTE - A comforting sweetness of brown sugar and fresh pastries is lifted by tangy lemon frosting.

FINISH - The gentle warmth concludes with ginger candy, baking spices, and soothing chamomile tea.

PURSUIT UNITED - DOUBLE OAKED BOURBON

The double oak finishing process starts with Pursuit United’s signature bourbon blend, which undergoes a lengthy secondary finish using custom 36-month seasoned French oak medium toasted staves. This extra maturation extracts extreme butterscotch notes while imparting a deep amber hue and velvety mouthfeel.

NOSE - Aromas of rich butterscotch and toffee, complemented by the sweet scent of toasted marshmallows.

TASTE - Smooth butterscotch flavors dominate, balanced by notes of luscious vanilla custard.

FINISH - Warm and lingering. Cinnamon-spiced baked pears, followed by hints of toasted oak.

PURSUIT UNITED - DOUBLE OAKED RYE

Built on the same base as our award-winning Pursuit United Rye whiskey, Double Oaked Rye showcases a new stave profile using french oak that has been lightly toasted and heavily charred for the secondary maturation. The finished product boasts a rich mahogany color and full-bodied flavor showcasing an oak profile with whiskeys three times its age. This one will captivate every rye whiskey enthusiast.

NOSE - Opens with the aroma of fresh-baked cherry pie. Followed by bright notes of cranberry, while spices of cardamom and nutmeg add depth and complexity.

TASTE - Buttered brown sugar crumbles, evoking memories of a fruit crisp dessert. Balanced by the tartness of fresh cherries. A rich berry medley jam flavor rounds out the taste.

FINISH - Cherry pipe tobacco lends a sophisticated edge. Followed by hints of charred oak, giving it an old whiskey character providing a gentle warmth that lingers on the palate.

PURSUIT UNITED - BARREL PROOF BOURBON

This uncompromising barrel proof bourbon was drawn from our most exceptional casks, bottled uncut and unfiltered. Masterfully blending rye and wheated bourbons, we’ve crafted a complex four grain whiskey that delivers our boldest whiskey ever created.

NOSE - Inviting aromas of fresh pastries and rich caramelized pears are complemented by complex cured tobacco.

TASTE - The palate explodes with decadent candied pecans, chocolate-covered strawberries, raspberries, and cocoa powder.

FINISH - A long and warming finish features amaretto balanced by toasted oak, concluding with allspice.

PURSUIT UNITED - BARREL PROOF RYE

This rye expression was meticulously crafted to stand alongside the best in its class, becoming a certified showstopper. A blend of three rye whiskeys, bottled uncut and unfiltered straight from the barrel, develops cascading layers of flavor.

NOSE - Rich toasted marshmallow and deep demerara sugar are brightened by vibrant citrus marmalade.

TASTE - The decadent palate moves from marshmallow fluff to crème brûlée’s crust and blueberry lemon pie.

FINISH - The bright and warming finish presents lemon zest, fragrant cardamom, and sweet nutmeg.

Many companies source their whiskeys from the same usual suspects or use multiple mash bills from a single distillery. Even heritage distilleries only have 3 mashbills that make 30 different labels. Pursuit Spirits sought out the best whiskeys, regardless of location, and put an emphasis on developing products that compete against the most highly acclaimed and allocated bottles on the market. Pursuit Spirits partners with 4 distilleries across multiple states to create 6 specific mashbills with customized barrel char levels. Barrels age at their respective distillery to maintain terroir then are hand selected and shipped before being united.
