Boulder Creek Festival - 4 days, 30+ Bands, 3 Stages
Boulder Creek Festival is partnering with Roots Music Project to feature local, emerging artists at the Boulder Creek Festival Community stage. Local bands and artists will be performing new songs in a celebration of cultural diversity and emerging talent.
MAY 25th on the Community Stage:
Derek Dames Ohl:
Derek Dames Ohl is like warm butter on hot bread with blustering conduct. as a modern-day herald Derek keeps his roots close with a six string on his back, ping-ponging across the United States sharing songs at every bar or dive that dares. Sounds that eclipse and perfect everything from country, blues and honkey-tonk. his pride in keeping the American roots music tradition alive, with punchy guitar playing will surely have every listener on their feet and stomping the floorboards. Derek has been related to artists like John Prine and Guy Clark with his quirky one second, and woeful the next songwriting style.
Derek got his start in the industry playing bass with Boulder Colorado’s own flash mountain flood. for the first five years of bandhood, the boys played an average of 200+ shows a year which earned them a spot on the Denver Westword's "best new bands in 2017". After countless tours and at least a dozen headlining shows at the local fox theatre, flash released their debut album "speak to heaven" to critical acclaim. Flash mountain flood plays more selectively these days, but you can find them at festivals like- frozen dead guy days, boulder creek fest, Beanstock, and many more!

Antonio Lopez:
Antonio Lopez is a quiet man with something to say. His music is like an onion, each layer revealing more. His adept guitar work and composition skills are never used in a showy way but rather like the spices in a home-cooked meal. His songwriting is lyric-forward folk, with marimba swells and swooning Spanish guitar flourishes on top of a rock-solid rhythm section. The result is a feast of emotions that delight the listener.
Antonio and his band are currently releasing two songs at a time as "doubles." It's a tongue-in-cheek way of releasing music as the music business has shifted. The trend is for musicians to release singles more frequently to feed the algorithm rather than full-length albums every few years. Calling them doubles harkens back to when singles had an A and B side because they were on a physical record. The new material is engineered by Christopher Wright of Work it Bird Studios in Longmont, CO.
Antonio Lopez is a Colorado native of indigenous descent. Born and raised in Alamosa and now residing in Longmont, he grew up steeped in the Chicanx culture of southern Colorado.
