About this Event
Welcome to Boston University's Inaugural Graduate Student Conference! Join us at the Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground for a day filled with thought-provoking discussions on Noise: Silence and Sound. This event is a fantastic opportunity for graduate students to showcase their research and engage in meaningful conversations with peers and experts in the field. Presentations will explore questions such as: In an era often deemed ‘noisy,’ over-saturated with content, is noise always a negative to be overcome? How has noise been leveraged to silence, and how might it counteract silencing? How might noise disrupt, disturb or trouble? How might it reconfigure our perceptions of sound or voice, of how we pay attention and to what?
Don't miss out on this unique chance to explore the complexities of noise, the power of silence, and the beauty of sound, including a keynote presentation from University of Arizona's Dr. Derrais Carter. We can't wait to see you there!
