Explore three award-winning documentaries on migration, identity, and belonging, followed by a discussion with the filmmaker
About this Event

Three powerful documentaries recently screened at the 2025 Queens World Film Festival: Home by Johanny Mota; Soñando America by Judit Angle; and Safari by Seyeon Bang.

Katha Cato, Executive Director of Queens World Film Festival, and the filmmakers will be present to discuss the films.

These three films explore migration, identity, and the quest for belonging from different corners of the world. Home centers on the Dominican immigrant experience and the meaning of “home”; Soñando America follows undocumented immigrants from Mexico striving for a better life; Safari tells the story of a North Korean defector whose escape and survival lead her toward a dream of freedom.

Together, these films reveal shared themes of hope, resilience, and the human cost of seeking safety and opportunity.
