About this Event
BOOKENDS // Talk about a photobook in progress, or reflect on older work.
Pictured: a spread from a book-in-progress called /ˈˈvæli/ by Jaime Molina.
The third edition of our photobook critique club, and possibly the last for a while. This session is designed for those at the beginning of a photobook journey, or reflecting on something published a wee while ago. If you've been searching for somewhere to talk about your book-making process, to share your work, workings-out and dummies, or to look back on a book with the benefit of hindsight and discuss what you may do differently now... this is for you.
Please email [email protected] once you have booked a ticket if you plan on presenting work. This is so that we know roughly how many attendees are bringing things to share. Participants presenting work are encouraged to bring sequenced prints, mock-ups, or dummy copies of the book you will be speaking about. We will also have a projector in case you want to show digital content, but it would be nice to have something tangible to pass around where possible. If you are sharing a finished product, feel free to bring a few additional copies for us to stock post-event ( we can explain how this works on the night)!
It's also fine for anyone without a work-in-progress to book to attend purely to listen in and contribute to discussion.
Practicalities //
Like all of our events, this does require a minimum attendance to go ahead, so please book early rather than last-minute. If we don't get enough interest we may have to cancel (at which point your donation will be refunded in full). Snacks will be provided!
Ticketing //
This is a ticketed event with limited capacity and you must book in order to attend. Tickets work on a sliding scale, and all proceeds help AGITATE continue to operate and programme events like this. The recommended ticket price is £4, but those who can pay more allow us to keep a sliding scale in place. We do not receive public funding, and your donations ensure the survival of spaces like this, during a really diffcult time for small businesses.
Accessibility //
This event will be seated, and will take place in the main gallery. The gallery is wheelchair accessible, and 6 William Street has an accessible toilet on the basement level, accessible via lift. There is a quiet breakout space downstairs if needed.
