Learn how to create handmade journals from scratch. This workshop details the pamphlet style bookbinding process, including bone folding, awl hole-punching, hand sewn binding, gluing and book pressing 📖

About the Workshop:

Students will learn bookbinding 101 starting with the pamphlet style book binding technique! The paper used is Neenah linen writing paper, ideal for use with fountain pens and light watercolor– while remaining compatible with pencil, ballpoint and dry writing media!

Each student will take home two handmade journals. Your handmade journal is ideal for a variety of creative uses-- suggestions include drawing, sketching, scrapbooking, note taking, creative writing, travel journaling, and more!

This class teaches bookbinding with everyday materials that are already available to you at home, like printer paper, rulers, scissors, sewing needles, thread, and cutting boards. All materials are provided.

No prior experience is needed. Bookbinding requires the use of tools like sewing needles, awls and scissors. Fine motor skills required!

Materials included:

Paper, rulers, awls, waxed thread, sewing needles, glue, bone folders, scissors, cutting board press. Students are welcome to bring any tools or materials of their own to use in class!

About the Artist:

Jordan Kent Wozinski is a bookbinder and papermaker with a focus on recycled, sustainable and eco-friendly materials. She holds bachelor degrees in English Literature and Studio Art from Loyola New Orleans.
