Alexandria-based historian/author David K. Wessel will be hosting a formal book launch of his soon-to-be-released book at Elaine’s Literary Salon on Wednesday, September 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The Christmas Ship of ‘34 is a work of narrative nonfiction and an exciting bit of marine history. It tells the true, long forgotten tale of a dramatic Yuletide rescue in the icy storm waters of the North Atlantic.

We’ll have a 'meet the author' social gathering starting a 6:00 followed by an 'author talk' at 7:00. David will share highlights of the story - the remarkable ocean rescue of sixteen sailors from their sinking cargo vessel - and the spectacular, unexpected homecoming the rescuers received. A champagne toast & hors d’oeurves will be provided & Elaine’s full menu will be available for purchase, as will autographed copies of David’s books.
