Mel Allen published his first story in Yankee Magazine in 1979. From then, until the day he retired as editor in 2025, his writing has captured the unique essence of New England and the people who call it home. For the first time, Allen has collected 45 of his favorite pieces, adding intimate new introductions and postscripts to put them in context. Join us at the Pope Memorial Library for a wonderful fall evening of New England stories. Mel Allen will be sharing 45 years plus of covering New England. Books will be available at the event, or at the store beforehand - please do not bring books purchased elsewhere - and Allen will be happy to sign after the event.
