About this Event
The “LibrInsieme” Reading Circle, the Book Club promoted by the Società Dante Alighieri di Sydney in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney, will host writer Marco Balzano, author of the novel Bambino (2024, Einaudi), selected by the Reading Circle for this edition.
The event will be held in a hybrid format, with the author joining remotely. Participants will have the opportunity to attend either in person at the Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney or online via Zoom.
This will be a special opportunity to meet the author, winner of the Campiello Prize in 2015, and discover Bambino in greater depth, engaging in a conversation with him about the novel, his writing, and the themes that run throughout his work.

Marco Balzano (Milan, 1978) is one of Italy’s most acclaimed contemporary writers. Winner of the Campiello Prize, he is the author of novels that have been translated into numerous languages.
In his works, “History” is never merely a backdrop, but becomes part of the everyday lives of ordinary people, showing how individual choices are intertwined with major collective events.
His writing is characterised by:
- Clear and engaging language
- Accessible yet never superficial storytelling
- A strong focus on the human and psychological dimension
- The ability to explore complex historical themes through unforgettable characters
