📖 June: A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World by C.A. Fletcher

📖 August: The Botany of Desire by Michael Pollan
Genre: Nonfiction, Environment | Themes: Environmental studies, plant domestication, human history, and botany | Reading Level: Two editions available. Young Readers Edition (2024) for grades 5 to 9, Original Adult Edition (2001) for grades 10 to 12 and up
Journalist Michael Pollan explores the fascinating relationship between humans and four plants, apples, tulips, marijuana, and potatoes, arguing that plants have co-evolved with us by satisfying our deepest desires. In doing so, they have shaped human culture and history, prompting the question of who is truly domesticating whom. Please note that this selection includes discussion of marijuana.
