Meet Pooja:

Pooja has been training in Kathak for the past 13 years under Gurus Smt. Nirupama Rajendra and Shri T.D. Rajendra from Bangalore, India. She has had the privilege of performing with Abhinava Dance Company at prestigious platforms such as the Mysore Dasara Festival, Bangalore International Film Festival, ZEE5 Awards, and Alvas NudiSiri, and has been part of their esteemed productions.

She has also trained in Karanas, a special movement vocabulary of the Natyashastra, from her Guru Smt. Nirupama. Additionally, she has attended Kathak workshops conducted by legendary Gurus like Padma Bhushan Kumudini Lakhiaji and Pandit Birju Maharajji, organized by Abhinava Dance Company.

After moving to the US, Pooja continues to practice and perform under the guidance of Guru Parul Shah and Guru Smt. Nirmala Madhava (Pampa), and collaborates with other dance companies such as NDC and Naatak in the Bay Area. She has given solo recitals in New York, Seattle, New Jersey, Boston, Bay Area, Houston, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

Recently, she premiered her own work at the YUVA Festival 2023 in Houston, which was featured on Narthaki, and also presented it as a solo at Yuva Bharati, California, where it was very well received. Her collaborative work in Navatman’s Mahabharata (2021) has been selected for film festivals, and she has served as a panelist for a work-in-progress series by Prayukti Arts, California.BollyClassical
