BODY SNATCHERS (1993) *Labour Weekend Special
Abel Ferrara's oft-forgotten remake is a cut above the rest.
Meg Tilly is the shit. For proof, look no further than BODY SNATCHERS. Co-written by Stuart Gordon (RE-ANIMATOR) and directed by Abel Ferrara (DRILLER KILLER), this exceptional remake deserves to be placed in the same rarified air as THE FLY and THE THING. While previous INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS films focused on the casualties of small town paranoia, this version explodes with full-blown, Stephen King-styled conspiracy hysteria.
But what really pulls it together is Tilly’s transformative performance as a mom who unwittingly ends up at the edge of a terrifying new reality. If you thought DAY OF THE DEAD was intense, wait until you see BODY SNATCHERS.
Doors 6:30pm, pre-show 7pm *Stay for Driller Killer at 9pm and make it a double!
