Fancy a skateboarding day trip with a like-minded crew? We’ve got you! Join us for a 2 hour skate session, lunch and an art exhibition.About this Event
Shout out to all women aged 30 and above, as well as gender minority skaters, residing in London, Sussex, and the neighbouring regions! Join us for a day of skateboarding followed by a visit to the Tate Modern to see Tracey Emin's 'A Second Life' exhibition.
We’ll meet in the morning at Hop Kingdom for a 2 hour private session, with the brilliant Sarah from @yellowhatskateschool along to give everyone some tips.
From there we’ll refuel over lunch (food is not included, but we’ll have a private area booked for our crew).
In the afternoon we’ll head to Bankside to the Tate Modern Gallery for Tracey Emin's 'A Second Life' exhibition and maybe if there is time we could even hit the Southbank Skate Space together!
This event is suitable for all skill levels from beginners to advanced, although most of us are novices! We just ask that you bring your own kit and can confidently stand and push on a board.
Price includes private rental of Hop Kingdom (for no more than 15 of us) + skate instructor + gallery entrance + a brilliant crew.
THE PLAN:
Meet near London Bridge Station for 9:30am. Quick 'coffee and croissant' stop at The Watch House then onto our first stop.
STOP 1: HOP KINGDOM - 10am-12pm
Hop Kingdom is an indoor skatepark in the heart of London, located under two railway arches on the Bermondsey Beer Mile. A five minute walk from London Bridge station. All ramps are movable, making it a flexible space for all skill levels.
Here we will be joined by skate instructor Sarah from @yellowhatskateschool. Sarah is a skater, surfer and snowboarder in her 30s, who has followed her passion for skating by starting up her own skate school in London. She hopes to be able to encourage and inspire other girls and women to take up skating, and to spread the joy of skating to as many people from different backgrounds as possible.
LUNCH STOP: Lunch is not included in the ticket price but we will have a private space booked at The Vinegar Yard to grab a bite and a drink before heading to our next stop.
STOP 2: THE GALLERY - The Tate Modern
After a fun filled morning skate session and a quick pit stop for lunch to refuel we then head over to Bankside.
Tracey Emin: A Second Life - 'This landmark exhibition traces 40 years of Emin’s groundbreaking practice, showcasing career-defining sensations alongside works never exhibited before. Through painting, video, textiles, neons, writing, sculpture, and installation, Emin continues to challenge boundaries, using the female body as a powerful tool to explore passion, pain, and healing.'
