About this Event
Workshop’s purpose
To explore Goddess archetypes through myth, images, movement and meditation, to understand how they can be useful within the therapeutic process.
Who is it for?
Therapists, counsellors, trainees, and others interested in depth psychology and myth. Goddess archetypes may hold particular importance for women; however they can hold meaning for people of all genders.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Hold a basic understanding of sacred feminine archetypes and their role within therapy.
- Identify the archetypal themes of Aphrodite, Demeter, and Persephone within myth and psychology.
- Understand how these archetypes can manifest in clinical practice, particularly in work with relationships, grief, trauma, and self-worth.
- Use creative and reflective methods (imagery, journaling, group discussion) to explore archetypal dynamics personally and professionally.
- Recognise the value of myth and symbol as tools for working with the unconscious.
What to expect?
This one-day workshop explores how Goddess archetypes can illuminate psychological processes and therapeutic work. Drawing on Jungian depth psychology and archetypal theory, we will look at the myths of Aphrodite, Demeter, and Persephone as symbolic mirrors for working with psychological wounding, relationships and the journey to Self.
Aims
- To introduce participants to the relevance of Goddess archetypes in psychotherapy.
- To explore the psychological meanings of the myths of Aphrodite, Demeter, and Persephone.
- To reflect on how these archetypes appear in clinical practice, particularly in themes of love, loss, transformation, and renewal.
- To offer experiential practices—guided reflection, journaling, and small group discussion—to integrate archetypal insights.
Structure
Morning: Introduction to archetypal psychology & Aphrodite in psychotherapy (themes of love, embodiment, and self worth).
Midday: Demeter and Persephone – exploring loss, grief, separation, and renewal. Mother and Daughter relationships.

Our Approach
Psychosynthesis as psychotherapy is a unique approach that combines both mind, feelings, body and spirituality. It is a holistic view on humans that supports a concept of continuous change and a drive to include all parts of our being and expression. In life well might create patterns of behaviour as survival styles from traumatising events that limit our sense of self, of expression and connection. Even when meeting deeply challenging life events, there is an inherit trust in Psychosynthesis that our nature directs towards healing of wounding.
Psychosynthesis invites the client to re-open up to our interconnected nature as human beings and allowing creativity and expression to support healing. The body is seen as an immediate communication channel and is at the very core of psychosynthesis and it’s understanding that Body, Feelings, Mind and Spirit are one.
