About this Event

Join Golden Eagle Audubon on our premier caravanning adventure as we replicate Al Larson's Prairie Bluebird Tour. Known to many as the “Bluebird Man,” Al dedicated years to monitoring and banding Mountain Bluebirds along this route and sharing his knowledge with generations of birders. While we won’t have Al with us to band nestlings this year, we will be birding in the places he loved. This trip is offered in appreciation of his legacy following his passing last year.
The range of habitats and change in elevation on this trip provide beautiful scenery and the chance to see a variety of bird species. Some of our target species include Bobolinks, White-throated Swifts, Lewis’s Woodpeckers, American Dippers, and Mountain Bluebirds.
Plan for a full-day trip as we look for a variety of species on the way to and through Prairie, then up the South Fork Boise River to Anderson Ranch Dam. Most birding will take place on the road or near our vehicles.
Accessibility: This event is not suited for those with visual impairment. Walking will be minimal on this trip, making it suitable for many participants with limited mobility.
