BLOOM Premiere @ Indy Art Center at the 9th Annual Indy Shorts Film Festival

Join us for the premiere of BLOOM - a short documentary on Guinness World Record holder Alex Babich is set to make its world premiere at the 9th Annual Indy Shorts Film Festival.
Bloom, directed by filmmakers Victoria Britton, Malakai Tyne Bisel, and Derek Hockemeyer, follows Babich over the course of two years. After failing to beat his own record for America’s tallest sunflower in 2024, Babich makes a push for a Guinness World Record—all while balancing the needs of his family and the challenges of nature in Northeast Indiana. On September 3, 2026 Babich achieved his dream with a sunflower measuring 35 feet 9 inches.
Indy Shorts is an Academy Award-qualifying event and will take place July 21-26, 2026, across Indianapolis. Bloom will play in-person on Wednesday, July 22 at 7:30 pm at Indy Art Center as part of the IN Spotlight 2 program. Then, it will play in-person on Sunday, July 26 at 2:45 pm at Living Room Theaters as part of an encore screening. Babich, Britton, Bisel, and Hockemeyer will be in attendance and participate in an audience Q&A following the screenings.
