SCHEDULE
10:30am & 11:30am LOOK & LISTEN STORYTIME: Read along to a picture book paired with a work of art. This month the theme is noticing and mindfulness, and the book is Noticing by Kobi Yamada, paired with the artwork Among Women Only by Louis Fratino.
Time TBD CAMERA LUCIDA DRAWING: Find a new perspective! Enjoy this in-gallery drawing activity featuring special tools for looking closely and reframing the practice of drawing. All ages and drawing experience welcome.
1pm LOOKING TOGETHER: Explore a visitor-favorite in our collection together! We’ll use creative ways of looking to make connections and meaning.
2pm CURATOR'S CHOICE TOUR: Join Claudia Zapata, Associate Curator of Latino Art, as they discuss Heriberto Luna’s The Universal Game.
3pm ART WITH AN EXPERT: Revealing the Secrets of an Enconchado Masterpiece at The Met: Drawing from a recent conservation project conducted on an enconchado from The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection, this talk explores the materials and techniques that converged to create an artwork that literally glows. We’ll be joined by guest speaker José Luis Lazarte Luna, Associate Conservator at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
3–6pm POP-UP PRINT SHOW: TWENTY-FIVE YEARS IN FIGURES: Come view highlights from the Blanton’s Prints & Drawings collection – including captivating figures – from sixteenth century prints to contemporary photographs.
