For the past eighteen years, the Blackthorne Resort has proudly hosted Lost Treasure Weekend—a one-of-a-kind gathering for metal detecting enthusiasts. Set in the scenic Catskill Mountains, it’s the perfect getaway for detectorists of all levels, from seasoned pros to newcomers eager to dig in.The Venue
The Blackthorne Resort has roots as deep as the Catskills themselves. Dating back to the mid-1700s, the property has seen everything from War of 1812 troop movements—evidenced by cannonballs and an artillery button found onsite—to visits from legendary gangster Legs Diamond in the early 1900s. Over the centuries, it evolved from the Brightside Ranch to Mrs. Peters’ House, then to the Mountain Spring Hotel, before becoming the Blackthorne Resort.
Even after nearly two decades of hosting Lost Treasure Weekend, incredible finds are still being unearthed here. Maybe you’ll discover the next great piece of history.
Weekend Highlights
Friday Natural Hunt
Arrive early for our exclusive Natural Hunt on Friday morning. We’ll bus participants to historic Catskills properties with special detecting access. With the area’s rich Revolutionary War and War of 1812 history, past finds have included Spanish silver coins, George Washington inaugural buttons, and Colonial coppers.
Midday, enjoy a catered lunch from the Blackthorne kitchen and share your best finds with fellow detectorists. The day wraps up with a special prize for the top discovery.
Seeded Hunts
Throughout the weekend, take part in four seeded hunts across our two-acre event field. Dig for numbered tokens redeemable for incredible prizes—gold and silver coins, Morgan dollars, Indian head pennies, silver certificates, jewelry, proof sets, and more.

Browse and buy the latest metal detecting gear from top vendors, all at unbeatable prices.
Nightlife
