Blacksmithing Bushcraft: Railroad Spike Knife

Due to popular requests, we have added a Railroad Spike Knife making class. These knives will be forged from brand new HC (high carbon) railroad spikes. Techniques covered include drawing out, profiling and shaping a blade, twisting a handle, and proper heat treatment.

Please dress appropriately in closed-toed shoes, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt. Please bring your own safety glasses as they are required. Instruction is for 7 hours between 9-12 and 1-5. We have scheduled a one-hour lunch break so that students will have the opportunity to explore the site. Lunch is not provided, please bring your own. Please arrive at 8:45 to sign a liability waiver on the day of the class.

The cost is $150 per student plus a $10 materials fee due to the instructor on the day of the class. There is a maximum of 4 students per class and they must be 18 years or older. This class is an intermediate to advanced class.
