Mind & Soul
Leading with Intention: Honoring Heritage while Building Tomorrow's Legacy
True leadership is not just about managing the present; it is about honoring where we come from to intentionally build where we are going. In this interactive session, we will examine how rooted community history and organizational leadership principles intersect to drive meaningful social impact. Participants will explore practical frameworks for visionary leadership, self-development, and establishing a sustainable, purpose-driven legacy within our own spheres of influence. Dr. Oralee McKinzy, Founder - Sharing Life Academy and The Watkins Foundation
Dear Sis: Transforming Stories through Cross-Generational Letter Writing
Participants will learn about basic story types and reflect on how they have been used to shape narratives of girlhood and womanhood. Following the model of James Baldwin's famous letter of encouragement to his nephew, participants will be invited to "shift the narrative" by writing their own letter that shares personal wisdom, experience, insight, and/or hope to a younger older or peer sister. Dr. Nicole Higgins, Assistant Professor of English and Africana Studies, University of Central Missouri
Let Him Use You

Shifting Your Internal Narrative
Many times we think about shifting the narrative that other people have for us. This session will explore what it means to shift the "internal" narratives that we have created for ourselves. We will be exploring biblical examples of the shift that the Holy Spirit create in us spiritually, mentally, and physically, and how that shift impacts us personally as we prepare to change the world around us. Rev. Dr. Stacy Shaw, Associate Minister, Morgan Street Baptist Church
