Black Voices & Music: Listening Room Live

Black Voices & Music: Listening Room Live is an intimate, soulful evening celebrating the richness of Black creativity through music, spoken word, and community connection. Inspired by the new wave of tiny concerts and living room sessions, this event brings audiences up close with artists whose voices carry both heritage and future vision.

The night begins with a panel discussion exploring the role of music, heritage, and creativity in shaping community identity. From there, the stage opens to live performances, spoken word, and freestyle energy, carrying us through to a late-night DJ set.

Join us on Friday 10 October, 7pm–12am at I O Together Space, Church End, for a night of reggae, hip hop, freestyle, spoken word, and a closing DJ set.

• Subajah (@subajah) — A reggae artist rooted in African and Caribbean traditions, Subahjah blends conscious lyricism with uplifting rhythms and soulful storytelling. His performances are powerful and poetic, weaving themes of freedom, resilience, and unity.

• OXGN (@oxgnofficialuk | TikTok: @oxgnmusic) — This North West London hip hop duo (Steve Austin and Souperman BAM BAM) bring sharp lyricism, jazz-infused beats, and Golden Era energy. Their music is socially conscious and high-impact, tackling themes of family, resilience, and identity while delivering unforgettable live sets.

• DJ Jay-T (@djjayt | TikTok: @dj_jay_T_) — Originally from Reading and a Harlesden resident for over 20 years, DJ Jay-T is an eclectic DJ whose passion lies in hip hop and R’n’B. A master of scratching and mixing, he blends reggae, soul, and club anthems with flair and precision, keeping the energy alive until midnight.

This free community event is part of I O Together Spaces’ Black History Month programme, designed to create sustainable cultural platforms and unforgettable nights in Harlesden small in size, big in impact.
